چکیده

In this paper, models of internal and external optical feedback effect in fiber linear lasers have been presented. The effects of optical feedback could be equivalent to the variation of laser cavity loss, and the output expressions of two models are deduced. According to the simulation results, the optical feedback system in fiber linear lasers has the same phase sensitivity as the traditional self-mixing effect in semiconductor lasers. The experimental results show a good agreement with the simulated results. Comparing the output of internal structure with that of external structure, we can conclude that the internal optical feedback system can get higher output gain and stripe depth, which reveals that the internal feedback structure has better sensing characteristics.

Investigating the Polarization Properties of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers

Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are a new type of semiconductor laser that have emerged as an economical alternative to conventional edge-emitting lasers. Anisotropies within these lasers, such as birefringence and dichroism, cause their optical output to favor one of two orthogonal linear polarizations; however, other optical outputs such as elliptical polarization and polariz...

Enhanced Modulation and Noise Characteristics in 1.55 µm QD Lasers using Additional Optical Pumping

The modulation response, relative intensity noise (RIN) and frequency noise (FN) characteristics of quantum dot (QD) lasers are investigated theoretically in the presence of an external optical beam. Using small signal analysis of the rate equations for carriers and photons, it is demonstrated that by injecting excess carriers into the QDs excited state through optical pumping, the modulation r...

All-Optical Clock Recovery Using Multi-Section Distributed-Feedback Lasers

Recovering the frequency of incoming data sequences in optical transmission lines is important for signal processing. It has been suggested to use all-optical devices, for instance lasers diodes, for this purpose. Recently, self-pulsations have experimentally been discovered in multi-section distributed-feedback lasers. If a self-pulsating laser is exposed to an external data signal, it is expe...

All - Optical Clock Recovery Using Multi - SectionDistributed - Feedback

Recovering the frequency of an incoming data stream in optical transmission lines is important for signal processing. It has been suggested to use all-optical devices, for instance lasers diodes, for this purpose. If a self-pulsating laser is exposed to an external data signal, it is expected that the frequency of the self-pulsation locks to the frequency of the data signal, and clock recovery ...
